Hello! I guess that everyone who comes here to chat has a daughter or a son. So we all are parents. Today I suggest talking about parenting and our kids aged from 1 to 3 years who called toddlers. “To toddle “ means to walk with short unsteady steps, so toddlers are kids who learn to walk.

  To begin with, let’s play. There are some games:

1. Shoes and Socks Game Instructions:  Arrange the shoes around your house in different ways with your child. Line them up by size, or separate them into color categories. This is fun to do with colorful socks as well. Safety Tip: Make sure shoes are clean.

  2. Hide-and-seek Objects

Instructions: Hide toys around your house in things you can name. When your toddler finds them, take the opportunity to discuss where the toys were hidden. For example: "under a chair," "in the closet," "on the table," etc. Safety Tip: Make sure these environments are safe for your child.

  3. Getting Dressed

Instructions: Play a mixed up clothing game. Put on different articles of clothing incorrectly, for instance: a sock on your hand, or a hat on your foot. Ask your child to show you where it really goes. Safety Tip: Avoid small accessories that may not be child-safe.

  4. Reading in your Home-made Tent

Instructions: With your child's help, build an indoor tent with blankets and chairs, and light it up using flashlights. Have storytime and read books inside your new tent. Safety Tip: Make sure nothing harmful can fall on your child.  

5. Cartime Fun 

Instructions: Play "Where is the car?" with your toddler. Slide a toy car down an empty paper towel tube. Your child will love to see it disappear and reappear. Make a "toddler superhighway" by opening up cardboard boxes and connecting them for toy cars to ride upon. Safety Tip: Make sure toys are baby-safe.

• Play parade or follow the leader with your toddler.

• Help your child to explore her surroundings by taking her on a walk or wagon ride.

• Encourage your child to tell you his name and age.

• Teach your child simple songs like Itsy Bitsy Spider, or other cultural childhood rhymes.

And not to be long with today’s post, I’d like to say some words about our toddlers skills.

Let’s take three ages – 18 months, 2 years, and 3 years. Imagine 5 toddlers in the playground. Look what they can do. How old each of them do you think?

Tim can climb well (including up and down on furniture).  He can kick a ball and stand on tiptoes. Also he can carry large toy or several toys while walking.

Mary can climb up onto low items. She can use gestures and point while making sounds to communicate what she wants or needs.  She can paint with fingers or brushes as well as stack items on the top of another.

Alice can walk on tiptoes and throw a large ball. She can use names for family and friends. Also she laughs at silly ideas or jokes and plays make-believe with dolls, toys or other people.

Nikita can identify a few body parts on himself or a doll.  He can find hidden objects as well as stack four or more blocks.

Anna can build a balanced block tower. She can identify basic colors and count to five.  Also she  can pedal a tricycle!
